Bianca Carrasco - Chief and Executive Director 
 

Bianca is a senior at the University of Arizona from Yuma, Arizona where she is double majoring in Psychological Sciences and Family Studies and Human Development! Bianca has been a member of UAEMS since Fall 2019, previously serving as both the Public Information Officer and Captain of Personnel. She is also a member of multiple organizations including Arizona Ambassadors, Blue Chip Leadership Experience, Women in Medicine and Science Club, Family Studies and Human Development Ambassadors, a research assistant through MEZCOPH, and the Student Health Insurance Advisory Committee. When not working with the agency, Bianca is listening to Broadway musicals, spending time with her friends, or hiking.

 

Bianca says "Thanks to UAEMS, I am able to provide medical care and assistance to the UArizona community alongside a group of fantastic, knowledgable EMTs. I have met extraordinary people, made lifelong friendships, and have been given the opportunity to further my experience in medicine. When I joined UAEMS, I gained a home away from home." After graduation, Bianca plans on attending medical school in order to become an Emergency Medicine Physician with a specialization in Pediatrics.

Zach Garland - Assistant Chief

Zach is a senior at the University of Arizona majoring in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Physiology with a minors in Emergency Medicine and Finance. Zach currently in his third year as an EMT with UAEMS. Aside from UAEMS, you can find Zach working long hours as an Emergency Department Technician at Banner UMC.
 
Zach says, “My most valuable experience with UAEMS is my interactions with my patients and knowing I’m a part of a team working to improve the quality of life at the University of Arizona.” After graduating with a bachelor’s degree, Zach plans on attending graduate school at the University of Arizona in the Cellular and Molecular Medicine Program and later attending medical school.
Emily Goldberg - Deputy Chief 

Emily is a senior here at the University of Arizona majoring in Public Health. Emily joined UAEMS in the Fall of 2019 and is a Tucson native. Outside of UAEMS, Emily is the College Director at Planned Parenthood of Arizona. Emily loves to be outside and spends many days hiking with her dogs. When not in nature, you can find her reading a good book.
 
Emily says that "Being in UAEMS has made me grow so much as a person and EMT. Being around such incredible people continues to make my time with the agency so special." Upon graduating Emily hopes to either get a Masters degree in Public Health or attend medical school.

Tanner Daniell - Captain of Training

Tanner is a senior at the University of Arizona studying Physiology with minors in Spanish and Emergency Medicine. Tanner joined us here at UAEMS in the Fall of 2019 and is from Mesa, Arizona. Besides spending his time here at UAEMS, he is also a researcher for the Arizona RETINA Project where they study light adaption in relation to the human retina. In his free time, Tanner can be found mountain biking and rock climbing.
 
According to Tanner "My most memorable experience in UAEMS is probably my first shift working for the agency. Technically it was my ride-along so I was not allowed to make patient contact, however, that night we got dispatched 6 times and had a total of 7 patients. The best part about this was how I realized how much we can help the students, staff, or anyone else on the University of Arizona campus." Tanner plans to attend PA school upon graduation from undergrad. 
 
Ryan Marmis - Captain of Personnel 

Ryan is a current junior at the University of Arizona studying Physiology and Political Science with a minor in Spanish. Ryan joined UAEMS in the Fall of 2020 and grew up a few hours down the road in Scottsdale, Arizona. Besides being heavily involved in UAEMS, Ryan is the Vice President of Sigma Nu Fraternity and involved in the Blue Chip Leadership Experience. In his free time, Ryan enjoys cooking, exercising, playing tennis, spending time with friends.
 
According to Ryan, "My most valuable experience has been the patient interactions I have had. Working with UAEMS, I have been able to have a positive impact on people's lives during some of their worst moments. I really enjoy being able to serve the University of Arizona community." Upon graduation, Ryan plans to pursue medical school.

 Antonio Chavez-Hernandez - Captain of Logistics
 
A Tucson native, Antonio is a senior at the University of Arizona majoring in Microbiology and minoring in Music. Antonio joined UAEMS in the Spring of 2019. Outside of UAEMS, Antonio can be found working in Dr. Kirsten Limesand's research lab and is a member of both TriCats and Wildcat Wishes Foundation. In his free time, Antonio can be found at the gym, swimming, watching movies, or hiking with his friends.
 
In his own words, "The best part of UAEMS is establishing amazing connections while gaining amazing clinical exposure that most do not have the opportunity to receive!" Antonio hopes to attend medical school and is interested in specializing in either family medicine or pediatrics. 
 
Meghan Lucero - Captain of Public Information
 
Meghan is a senior at the University of Arizona from Loveland, Colorado. She is majoring in Physiology and Global Studies with an emphasis on Global Health Development, as well as minoring in Spanish. Meghan joined UAEMS in Fall 2020 and is also involved in the UArizona Honors College, Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honorary, and Physiology Honors Academy, as well as works as a Patient Care Tech at TMC in the NICU and on the mom/baby floor. In her free time, Meghan enjoys hiking, camping, and skiing, as well as traveling and playing sand volleyball.

Meghan says her most valuable experience at UAEMS is "gaining confidence in my skills as a healthcare provider while being able to give back to and connect with the campus community." Meghan hopes to attend medical school and work as a Neonatologist.

 Dylan Barash - Officer of Logistics

Dylan is a senior at the University of Arizona studying Physiology with a minor in Emergency Medicine. Dylan recently joined UAEMS in Fall 2020 and is from Gilbert, AZ. Outside of UAEMS Dylan is very involved on campus and is active in Arizona Ambassadors, Physiology Honors Academy, Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honorary, Freshman Class Council, SMORES Sophomore Honorary, as well as is a tutor at SALT Center. When not on campus Dylan can be found cooking, baking, drinking coffee, spending time in nature, watching good tv and movies, and playing with every dog he sees.
 
In Dylan's words, "The best part [of UAEMS] is being part of a community of driven students who all want to make our campus a better place while getting to provide hands-on patient care." After graduating, Dylan hopes to attend medical school.

 
 Mikaela DiSalvo - Officer of Personnel

Mikaela is a junior at the University of Arizona studying Physiology and Medical Sciences with a minor in Spanish. Mikaela first started at UAEMS in the Spring of 2021 and is from Chandler, Arizona. Aside from UAEMS, Mikaela can often be found working in a research lab conducting a scoping review for the ENT department of UA Medical School, as well as an active member in Kappa Kappa Gamma. Mikaela enjoys cooking for her roommates, hiking, swimming, and finding weird and cool things from thrift shops that would be funny to own.
 
Mikaela says "My most memorable experience in UAEMS was meeting up with a couple other people in my red shirt class a couple nights before the BSE and having a study night. We ended up making up new games that made it fun to study and improving our acting skills by pretending like we were each other's patients. It was a really good to get the nerves out before the BSE and get some last minute studying in." Upon graduation Mikaela hopes to attend medical school to become and orthopedic surgeon.

 Rachel Monheit - Field Training Officer

Rachel is a senior at the University of Arizona studying Nutrional Sciences with a minor in Family Studies and Human Development. Rachel joined UAEMS in the Fall 2020 and is an Arizona native, growing up in Scottsdale. Outside of UAEMS, Rachel is involved in a on-campus research lab and enjoys cooking, watching movies, and dancing in her kitchen.
 
Rachel says that her favorite part of her experaince her at UAEMS is "getting to come to work and spend time with all of my friends. The jokes, stories, and fun times we share are so special and I wouldn’t trade my experience for the world!" Upon graduation, Rachel plans to attend PA school and become a PA in the Emergency Department.
Lauren Krieger - Field Training Officer
 
Lauren is a senior at the University of Arizona from Phoenix, Arizona. She is pursuing a degree in Public Health with a minor in Emergency Medicine. Lauren joined UAEMS in Spring 2019 through the First Responder Scholarship Program. Besides working as an EMT, Lauren is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and volunteers as a Pre-Health Ambassador. In her free time, Lauren loves exploring the outdoors and spending time with friends. 
 
Lauren says that her most valuable experience in UAEMS has been, “Not only gaining hands on experience treating patients but also having the opportunity to work with an amazing group of people who all share the common goal to help the U of A community!” She plans on attending physician assistant school after graduation.

Esteban Urena - Field Training Officer 

Esteban is a junior at the University of Arizona studying Molecular & Cellular Biology with a minor in Health and Human Values. Esteban joined us here at UAEMS in the Fall of 2020 and is from Rio Rico, Arizona. Outside of UAEMS you can find Esteban acting as the Director of Finance of Mobile Medicats, one of the founders of the Health and Human Values Club, a volunteer at the ASTEC Lab,  and an intern with Tucson Collaborative Community Care (TC-3). In his free time, he enjoys swimming, spending time with friends, playing chess, and exploring the outdoors.
 
In his own words, Esteban says "My most valuable experience in UAEMS has been playing an active part in the health and wellness of the U of A Community alongside a group of extraordinarily ambitious and knowledgeable people!" After graduating, Esteban hopes to attend medical school and become a pediatrician.
Faith Mendoza - Field Training Officer 

Faith is a senior here at the University of Arizona studying Biochemistry with a minor in Music. Faith joined UAEMS in the Fall of 2019 and is from Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Faith has been involved in Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honorary and Health Occupations Students of America, as well as is heavily involved in research on campus. In her free time, Faith enjoys playing the piano, reading, writing, and listening to music.
 
In Faith's own words, "My most valuable experience in UAEMS has probably been getting such a unique and exciting opportunity to work with patients alongside some of the most wonderful people I've ever met!" Upon graduation, Faith hope to attend PA school.

Anthony Abruzzini - Field Training Officer 

Anthony is a junior here at the University of Arizona studying Care Health & Society with a minor in Emergency Medical Services and Pyschology. Anthony joined UAEMS in the Spring of 2021 and is from Santa Cruz, California. Anthony is also involved in a fraternity here at UArizona. In his free time, Anthony can be found hiking, watching sports, and enjoying time with his friends. 

In Anthony's own words, his most valuable experiance during his involvement with UAEMS is "being able to work along side some of my best friends while providing high quality medical care to the U of A community." Anthony would like to become a firefighter paramedic after he graduates.
Julia Stephens - Public Information Officer
 
Julia is a junior at the University of Arizona from Kansas City, Missouri who is majoring in Public Health with a minor in Spanish. Julia joined UAEMS in Spring of 2021 and is also involved in Sigma Kappa Sorority and MexZona. In her free time, Julia enjoys tennis, hiking, running, traveling, and hanging out with her friends and family. 
 
In her own words, Julia says “Working with amazing health care professionals in order to provide quality medical care to patients has been very valuable experience for me as I continue my path in the medical field!” Julia hopes to attend PA school upon graduation and specialize in pediatrics or dermatology.

Paige Himsel - Public Information Officer
 
Paige is a senior at the University of Arizona from Peoria, Arizona. She is majoring in Physiology, as well as minoring in Emergency Medical Services. Paige joined UAEMS in Fall 2020. In her free time, Paige enjoys cooking, reading, watching movies, and exploring Arizona whenever she has the oppurtunity.

Paige says "The most valuable experience I have gotten from UAEMS is being able to meet some amazing people while serving a community I love so much." Paige plans on taking a gap year to grow her resume before applying to medical school and hopefully becoming an OBGYN in the future.
Jenna Wise - Continuous Quality Improvement Officer 
 
Jenna is a junior at the University of Arizona who is currently majoring in Physiology and Medical Sciences and minoring in Emergency Medical Services and Spanish. Jenna joined UAEMS in Spring 2021 and is a Tucson native. She is also involved in Physiology Honors Academy, PATH mentoring, the honorary system, Alpha Epslion Delta, Flying Samaritans, and the Katsanis Research Lab on campus. In her free time, Jenna spends a lot of time and money on Hobby Lobby crafts!
 
Jenna says her most memorable UAEMS experiance is, “As a red-shirt, our crew was dispatched to an actively seizing patient with head trauma. We were able to stop the bleeding and provide care for the patient while waiting for transport to arrive. I felt as though my actions truly helped the situation, and it was an experience that I will never forget!” Jenna hopes to attend medical school upon graduation.

Sophia von Hippel - Continuous Quality Improvement Officer
​
Sophia is a junior at the University of Arizona studying Chemistry. Sophia started at UAEMS in the Fall of 2020 and is from Anchorage, Alaska. In her free time, Sophia practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu and lobbies congress members for climate change action. She also volunteers at Tucson Community Center as a COVID-19 vaccinator, and also enjoys gardening.
 
Sophia says that "For me, the most valuable part of UAEMS is learning and working with my peers to help community members." Sophia hopes to pursue a degree in Emergency Medicine once she graduates.
