Timothy Gustafson - Chief and Executive Director
Tim is a current graduate student at the University of Arizona pursuing a degree in Industrial Health with an emphasis in environmental and occupational health from Tinley Park, Illinois. Tim has been a member of UAEMS since Spring 2018 where he has served in numerous positions including Field Training Officer, Continuous Quality Improvement Officer, and Deputy Chief. Aside from working as an EMT, Tim works as a student employee for UA Occupational Health, is the Chairman of Health and Recreation Fee Board, and also participates in mining research. In his free time, Tim enjoys playing tennis and watching movies!
Tim says his most valuable UAEMS experience has been, “Supporting our UA community through some fantastic college experiences, such as Tucson Festival of the Books and Commencement.” He also says his plans after graduation, “change weekly” but we know he’ll accomplish big things!
Yasmine Hefer - Assistant Chief

Yasmine is a senior at the University of Arizona from Maabarot, Israel. She is majoring in Physiology, with minors in Biochemistry and Emergency Medicine. Yasmine has been a member of UAEMS since Spring 2018, where she has served as Public Information Officer. Besides working with UAEMS, Yasmine has been a member of numerous organizations on the UArizona campus including: Primus Freshman Honorary, Arizona Ambassadors, Chain Gang Junior Honorary, serving as their Vice President, and Residential Life, where she worked as a former Resident Assistant. In her free time, Yasmine enjoys traveling, boxing, hiking, and spending time with her adorable dogs!
Yasmine says her most valuable experience in UAEMS has been, “Being able to familiarize myself with the medical field long before I become a doctor, and working with some of the most driven and inspirational individuals on campus.” Yasmine plans on continuing gain more experience as an EMT after graduation before attending medical school to become a trauma surgeon.
Jacob Robishaw-Denton - Deputy Chief
Jacob is currently a senior at the University of Arizona from Phoenix, Arizona where he is currently studying Microbiology while also completing a minor in Emergency Medicine. Jacob has been a member of UAEMS since Spring 2018 where he has previous served as Continuous Quality Improvement Officer.
Jacob says his most valuable UAEMS experience, “Would have to be the large amount of patient care experience and along with the feeling of giving back to my community!” After graduation, Jacob plans on attending medical school and becoming an emergency physician.
Julia Bonnici - Captain of Training

Julia is a senior at the University of Arizona from Chandler, Arizona. She is pursuing a degree in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science and minoring in Biochemistry and Psychology. Julia has served with UAEMS since Fall 2018, previously working as a Field Training Officer. Besides UAEMS, Julia volunteers as a Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Ambassador and also works with Residential Life as a Resident Assistant. In her free time, Julia enjoys reading, running, and hiking throughout Arizona.
Julia says her most valuable UAEMS experience has been, “Helping to serve the community in a way that not only really makes an impact, but is also extremely important to me. I have loved working alongside many talented people who aspire to do such amazing things, which really pushes me to do my best as well. Not only am I constantly inspired by the people I am surrounded by, but I also consider UAEMS as my home and my coworkers as my family.” Julia plans on completing a Master’s degree after graduation before applying to medical school.

Bianca Carrasco - Captain of Personnel

Bianca is a junior at the University of Arizona from Yuma, Arizona where she is double majoring in Psychological Sciences and Family Studies and Human Development while also minoring in Fashion! Bianca has been a member of UAEMS since Fall 2019 and is also a member of a multiple organizations including: Arizona Ambassadors, Blue Chip Leadership Experience, Women in Medicine and Science Club, and Family Studies and Human Development Ambassadors. When not working with the agency, Bianca is listening to Broadway musicals and spending time with her friends.
Bianca says her most valuable UAEMS experience has been, “Being able to serve the UArizona community and the friendships I have made with a wonderful group of people and EMTs.” After graduation, Bianca plans on attending medical school in order to become an Emergency Medicine Physician with a specialization in Pediatrics.
Damon Beam - Captain of Logistics
Damon is a senior at the University of Arizona from Phoenix, Arizona who is currently pursuing a degree in Physiology. Damon has worked with UAEMS since Fall 2017, where he has previously served as Logistics Officer. While he humbly states that he participates in “nothing notable” on campus, we know Damon has worked tirelessly in various other organizations here at the university. When he is not working as an EMT, Damon enjoys learning history and watching television while relaxing.
Damon says his most valuable experience in UAEMS has been, “The clinical and leadership experience that I received, as well as the friends I made within the organization.” Damon plans on taking a gap year after graduation, where he will gain more clinical experience, and applying to medical school in the future.
Jamie Ganem - Public Information Officer
Jamie is a senior at the University of Arizona from Paradise Valley, Arizona. She is currently majoring in Physiology and Medical Sciences and minoring in Psychology and Business Administration. Jamie joined UAEMS in Spring 2019 as a recipient of the First Responder Scholarship. Besides serving with UAEMS, Jamie is a member of numerous organization on the UArizona campus including: Chi Omega sorority, where she serves as the Vice President of Standards, Arizona RETINA Project, Arizona Ambassadors, Chain Gang Junior Honorary, where she served as Recording Secretary, Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honorary, SMORES Sophomore Honorary, and Freshman Class Council. Jamie was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa as a junior and teaches an undergraduate laboratory class for the Molecular and Cellular Biology department. In her free time, Jamie enjoys reading, traveling to new countries, and scuba diving!

Jamie says her most valuable experience with UAEMS has been, "Developing medical skills that I will be able to use in a professional setting and growing within the agency, both as a provider and a person. Joining this agency changed my life for the better and I am extremely grateful I had this opportunity during college." After graduation, Jamie plans on working for Teach for America and applying to medical school to eventually become a physician.
Lauren Krieger - Field Training Officer
Lauren is a junior at the University of Arizona from Phoenix, Arizona where she is pursuing a degree in Public Health and with a minor in Emergency Medicine. Lauren joined UAEMS in Spring 2019 through the First Responder Scholarship Program. Besides working as an EMT, Lauren is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and volunteers as a Pre-Health Ambassador. In her free time, Lauren loves exploring the outdoors and spending time with friends.
Lauren says that her most valuable experience in UAEMS has been, “Not only gaining hands on experience treating patients but also having the opportunity to work with an amazing group of people who all share the common goal to help the U of A community!” She plans on attending physician assistant school after graduation.
Henry Stanley - Field Training Officer
Henry is currently a senior at the University of Arizona from Mesa, Arizona. He is majoring in Physiology and minoring in Emergency Medicine. Henry has been a member of UAEMS since Fall 2018 and is also an active member of the UArizona Honors College. In his free time, Henry enjoys cooking and playing video games.
Henry says that his most valuable experience with UAEMS has been, “Learning how to respond to a wide variety of medical emergencies with a sense of professionalism, it also doesn’t hurt that I learned how to wake up faster!” After graduation, Henry plans on attending medical school.
Noelle Kolessar - Field Training Officer
Noelle is a current senior at the University of Arizona from Phoenix, Arizona. She is majoring in Physiology and Medical Sciences and also minoring in Psychology and Emergency Medicine. Noelle has served with UAEMS since Fall 2018 and is also involved in Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honorary and Alpha Phi Omega on the UArizona campus. When she isn’t working with the agency, Noelle enjoys painting and hiking the beautiful desert landscape.
Noelle says her most valuable UAEMS experience has been, “Becoming more involved in the UArizona community while also developing professional skills that can help me on my path towards a medical career.” After graduation, Noelle plans on attending physician assistant school.
Brittany Wright - Continuous Quality Improvement Officer
Brittany is a senior at the University of Arizona from Parker, Colorado who is currently double majoring in Physiology and Anthropology and minoring in Emergency Medicine. Brittany joined the UAEMS agency in Fall 2018 and also volunteers with the UArizona Honors College. In her free time, Brittany enjoys watching hockey and spending time with her friends!
Brittany says her most valuable UAEMS memory has been, “Meeting people with similar interests and goals while also making a positive impact in the university community. This position has also helped me gain more confidence in myself and my skills than I ever thought I could possess.” Brittany does not have concrete plans after graduation, but we know she will accomplish wonderful things in whatever she chooses!
Andrew Bertone - Continuous Quality Improvement Officer
Andrew is a sophomore at the University of Arizona from Spokane, Washington who is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Public Health and Emergency Medicine. Andrew joined UAEMS in Fall 2019 and also participates in intramural sports on campus. When he is not working as an EMT, Andrew loves golfing and scuba diving!
Andrew says his most valuable experience in UAEMS has been, “Going through the probationary Red Shirt process, which entailed the newfound ability to work with and beneficially impact patients while also making life-long friends.” After graduation, Andrew plans on working in Emergency Management or Homeland Security.
